Wedding planning, while exciting, can be a major source of stress–and your honeymoon is likely going to be your first real chance to enjoy some quality time with your spouse. The trip should be relaxing, first and foremost, and suit your wants, needs and style as a couple. With this in mind, there is no better feeling than when you are able to meet all of your guests needs and then some. One of our guests, Elizabeth, took time to share her experience on Tripadvisor after staying with Serena Mivumo River Lodge earlier in the year
My husband and I stayed at Serena Mivumo River Lodge for the first 3 nights of our honeymoon and cannot say enough wonderful things about this lodge. We were treated so amazingly and the accommodations were absolutely stunning. We worked with Africa Odyssey to help us book our stay here. Because it was our honeymoon, we had a lovely cake and bottle of wine as we arrived. Our guide, Simon, took us on a safari each day and he was INCREDIBLE. His ability to track and find animals (we saw lions every single day, elephants most days, a water buffalo and so much more) was amazing, and he ensured that we had a wonderful time on our safari.
We also went on a boat safari and enjoyed the change of scenery that brought us. The lodge is located right on the river, as pictures will show you, and we truly enjoyed waking up with incredible sunrises on our private balcony. One of my absolute favorite things was the outdoor shower It was so peaceful and lovely, and we never had to worry about people seeing us as Mivumo is pretty secluded. We loved hearing the hippos loud grunts during our meals and feeling so at peace. The wait staff was always wonderful and when I say that this is the best food we’ve ever eaten, I truly mean it! We always had plenty to eat, especially at breakfast. Dinners often gave us a choice of a fish or meat option, and they always served delicious wines with all of our meals. We met some lovely other guests during our stay from all over the world and we loved the entire experience. Everything from the moment we landed at Stiegler’s Gorge air strip to the moment we took off again went to smoothly.
